Dr. Russell R. Hart holds a Doctorate Degree in Clinical and Scientific Psychology a Graduate from Utah State University, a Masters Of Science Degree in Counseling Psychology from North Dakota State University, and a Bachelors Of Arts Degree in Psychology, from the University of North Dakota. He has been a resident of Las Vegas since 1987 and licensed Las Vegas Psychologist.
Dr. Hart has been in private practice for over thirty (30) years. His practice includes many problem-oriented therapeutic strategies using Cognitive –Behavioral Therapy with Hypnosis in treating most mental disorders very effectively such as: depression, phobias, post-traumatic stress disorders, eating disorders, compulsive disorders, gambling, smoking and other addictive disorders, performance anxiety, substance abuse, weight loss, self confidence, self esteem, anger, rape and molestation, and other related mental and emotional disorders. Since 1980, Dr. Hart has been utilizing the use of Hypnotherapy as an adjunct to psychotherapy, very successfully. This form of therapy has been scientifically proven as the most effective form of psychotherapy. In Las Vegas, Nevada, Dr. Hart has worked with high-profile entertainers, casino executives, doctors, attorneys, and professional athletes, including National and Olympic figures.
Additionally, Dr, Hart specializes in Marriage and Family Therapy. Many problems exist at levels of communication in the marital, family organization, corporate, national and world levels. In effect, communication functions thru the neuropsychological effects of Left and Right Prefrontal cortex, that is rational and logical thought and the Limbic System, that is the emotional brain. Many people are ineffective when it comes to how to communicate. They may be controlling, yelling, demeaning, swearing, complaining, blaming, and disapproving, name calling, verbally, emotionally, mentally, physically or even sexually abusive. This negativity has a depressing and anxiety provoking effect on others. Treatment stages emphasize communications focused on areas of affection, anger, and problem solving, intimacy, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness, congruency in cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functions. Hypnosis is a powerful adjunct to the therapeutic process to help focus and maintain control of adversarial states.
Dr. Hart has also made valuable contributions to the field of Psychology. In 1971, in collaboration with the State of Utah’s Mental Health Division, he established the Tooele Mental Health Clinic. In 1973, Dr. Hart was appointed as the Assistant Executive Director of the Murray Jordan Mental Health Center, consisting of one hundred and seventy-five staff members (175). As the Assistant Executive Director of Murray Jordan Tooele Health Center, he was responsible for numerous Clinical and Administrative services, including out-patient, in-patient, and the residential treatment facilities. At the same time, Dr. Hart was also an Adjunct Professor for the School of Nursing at the University of Utah. Furthermore, in 1976, Dr. Hart assumed responsibility for the Residential Treatment Unit with 26 professional auxiliary staff.
Dr. Hart is also associated with numerous professional organizations, past and present. He’s been a member of The American Board of Medical Psychotherapists, and a Diplomat of Behavioral Medicine and Professional Psychotherapy with the International Academy of Behavioral Medicine, Counseling and Psychotherapy . Additionally, he is a member and has completed Diplomat training and status with The American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. He has consulted with members of the Salt Lake City, and Las Vegas Police Departments. He has specialized in areas of Mass Casualty and Disaster Planning. Dr. Hart has also collaborated and consulted with the State Department of Mental Health Services in Salt Lake County, The Utah State Hospital, and North Dakota State Hospital. Finally, Dr. Hart has served as a Fellow with the American Orthopsychiatric Association, Inc.
In 1987 Dr. Hart was employed by Montevista Psychiatric Hospital, in Las Vegas, Nevada, to perform Psychological Diagnostic Evaluations with Marvin Glovinsky, Ph.D, and to assist in the daily management of Montevista’s treatment services. Additionally, Dr. Hart as conducted evaluations on the mental status of men standing trial for murder for the District Attorney’s Office in Clark County, and he provided fit for duty evaluations, post shooting assessments, and counseling services for the Nevada Highway Patrol.
